Which HR Policies Are Legally Required in India?
The POSH (Prevention of Sexual Harassment) policy is mandatory for any company with 10 or more employees, along with an internal committee. Beyond that, leave policies must comply with the Shops & Establishments Act of your state, and a maternity benefit policy is required under the Maternity Benefit Act. Most other policies are best practice rather than legal mandates — but they protect you in disputes.
What Is the POSH Act and Do I Need It?
The POSH Act 2013 requires every workplace with 10+ employees to have a written anti-harassment policy and an Internal Committee (IC) to handle complaints.
